about the artist
Let me quickly share with you my journey in painting art.
I have been involved in painting art for more or less 70 years.
I recall the very first time for our art & craft homework, the teacher wanted us to make lanterns. I was then 11. My father who taught himself to draw & paint in his younger days was ready to help. Together we took an egg, emptied it through two holes top & bottom. We wrapped it with white tissue & glue. Then we painted it in bright colours. A string was used to thread through the two holes and the work completed with a streamer & a holding stick. This work got me the envy of my classmates & top marks from our teacher. Hence, I was initiated into the world of art.
During my school years there was no formal art lessons. So, painting art was for me & my contemporaries largely self-taught. However, time available for painting had to compete with time spent on building my career.
Now when the work is done, I have time to pursue art as an enjoyable and rewarding past-time. In the process I have learnt a bit more about painting art. I looked in the cyber domain and practised the techniques demonstrated in videos. Apart from abstract art which I could not aspire to, there are two different styles in painting that I know of. These are paintings in realism & impressionism. Realism art is painting done in lifelike details. My style as you can see in my art work is in realism. I have compiled a booklet in which I shared what I learnt about impressionism, realism, painting mediums & materials. This information is mostly left out during art lessons, I am told.
Where have I found time to do all these? Short answer is you don’t have to retire into doing nothing.

in the artist’s words

“Me… Artist?”
“When someone has an interest in art, what is the motive that arouses that interest? The person may wish to do art only as a hobby, or the person has an ambition one day to be recognised as a promising artist…”
